Lancaster's historic Charter Market is offering free summer trading to up and coming business men and women.

A number of pitches will be offered for free in the coming months to anyone introducing something new to the popular street market.

Market manager from the council, Tracey Bruce, said: “By making this offer available the council is hoping to inspire people to pursue a career in market trading.

"It is the perfect opportunity for local small businesses to showcase their goods and get their new ventures of the ground.”

The Charter Market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday in the heart of the city centre, although the offer of free pitches applies to Wednesday trading only, and for commodities other than takeaway food.
